Take Courage | Tengan Coraje

Jeremiah 28:1-17; Matthew 14:22-36

Fear is one of our strongest emotions. It can motivate us to do what is right or avoid what is wrong when reason, justice, or even love fail us.

But fear can also paralyze us and prevent from doing the good we want or stand against what we know is wrong. It is hard to overcome fear, but it is possible.

Jeremiah received from the Lord a message that no one welcomed. They preferred the more comforting but false prophecies of Hananiah. Though he stood alone, Jeremiah courageously held his ground. He had faith that God was with him.

Peter nearly drowned in his fear. He was walking on water—literally! Jesus had given him a miraculous gift. But when he saw the waves and felt the wind, he stumbled. Jesus did not give up on Peter. He held out his hand and saved him. Peter had “little faith,” but he had enough to reach out to the Lord.

Life sometimes demands that we walk on water, that we say and do things that seem impossible. Faith enables us to overcome the wind and waves, and when we falter, the sense to grab the Lord’s saving hand.

El miedo es una de nuestras emociones más fuertes. Puede motivarnos a hacer lo correcto o evitar lo incorrecto cuando la razón, la justicia o incluso el amor nos fallan.

Pero el miedo también puede paralizarnos e impedirnos hacer el bien que queremos o enfrentarnos a lo que sabemos que está mal. Es difícil superar el miedo, pero es posible.

Jeremías recibió del Señor un mensaje que nadie acogió. Prefirieron las más reconfortantes pero falsas profecías de Hananías. Aunque estaba solo, Jeremías valientemente se mantuvo firme. Tenía fe en que Dios estaba con él.

Pedro casi se ahogó en su miedo. Estaba caminando sobre el agua, literalmente. Jesús le había dado un regalo milagroso. Pero cuando vio las olas y sintió el viento, tropezó.  Jesús no se dio por vencido con Pedro. Extendió su mano y lo salvó. Pedro tenía "poca fe", pero tenía la suficiente para llegar al Señor.

La vida a veces exige que caminemos sobre el agua, que digamos y hagamos cosas que parecen imposibles. La fe nos permite superar el viento y las olas, y cuando vacilamos, el sentido de agarrar la mano salvadora del Señor.
